For the fifth consecutive year, we share the results of our 2025 Social Balance as part of the Solidarity Economy Network of Catalonia (XES). This has been a year defined by our commitment to sustainability, equality, and cooperation with our community. The report reflects our ongoing journey toward a responsible and transparent business model, where people, the territory, and the planet are at the core of our activity.

On 22–23 September 2025, we hosted the Kick-Off Meeting of the IncentEU Project in Barcelona. This two-day event, supported by the EU LIFE Programme through the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), marked the official launch of a three-year initiative dedicated to advancing sustainable District Heating and Cooling (DHC) networks across Europe

5th-generation district heating and cooling networks (5GDHC) represent a fundamental technological advancement for decarbonizing the thermal sector and optimizing energy flows from low-temperature waste heat.

At AIGUASOL, we have extensive experience and expertise in modeling complex energy systems, designing advanced control systems, and valorizing resources such as biogas, waste heat, and solar energy. With this technical foundation, we support public and private stakeholders in the transformation of conventional WWTPs into strategic, efficient, and climate-aligned facilities.

As part of the REGENERA project, led by AIGUASOL, we have translated these potentials into real-world cases, with a rigorous technical and economic approach. Specifically, we studied the production and use of green hydrogen from renewable energy generated at a WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant) and its applications within the same system.

At Aiguasol, we investigated how existing networks can be reused and adapted to support the integration of renewable gases—such as biomethane and green hydrogen—and thereby contribute to a clean, efficient, and distributed energy system, within the framework of the REGENERA project.

We are excited to announce the launch of Join Energy — Aiguasol's new digital tool designed to simplify the management and control of energy communities and shared self-consumption initiatives.

Energy communities play a crucial role in enabling collective participation, but market operations must be adapted and inclusive models incentivized to make this a reality. Including small actors in the system goes beyond equity — it's an opportunity to build a resilient, decentralized, and sustainable electric system.

Aiguasol, in collaboration with Tecnalia and Barrizar, supports and advises the Ekogella energy community, located in the municipality of Ispaster (Basque Country), on its technical and economic feasibility to ensure the project's success and transform Ispaster into a greener and more self-sufficient municipality

We are proud to announce that we are part of one of the winning projects in the call for Innovative Business Groups (AEI), promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Government of Spain, to promote the development and improvement of Bioenergytraces, a digital tool which explores the uses of biomass.

On November 30, 2024, Borja Olives Verger, Project Technician at Aiguasol and energy communities expert, participated in the event “Cooperative Energy, Energy Communities, the Future of Energy Consumption”, held in the Assembly Hall of the Comunitat Minera Olesana, in Olesa de Montserrat. This meeting, organized to promote debate and reflection on the sustainable future of energy consumption, brought together sector experts, local entities, and citizens interested in the energy transition model.
