We develop strategies for a sustainable and healthy urban environment.

Outdoor Environmental Quality encompasses the environmental conditions in urban settings that bear a direct impact on the health and well-being of urban centres’ residents and visitors.

We offer a consulting service that is characterised by the integration of different parameters of environmental quality, underpinned by tools and knowledge in different domains and using an integrated working methodology. This approach facilitates the creation and design of innovative strategies and solutions adapted to each context.

The strategies allow thermal comfort (including microclimatic control), air quality and acoustic comfort to be measured, analysed and improved.

Thermal comfort

We have experience in mapping the human body’s thermal response to their surroundings and in analysing heat island effects in the design phase of urban buildings. The studies include different scenarios (climate, including climate change forecasts, and possible solutions to be adopted, both in terms of urban planning and materials and vegetation)

Air quality

As regards air quality, AIGUASOL offers a consulting service aimed at supporting local strategies to improve air quality, based on technical expertise and experience in monitoring systems, data analysis, the development of IoT platforms, as well as communication and public awareness projects.

Featured Projects

LÍQUENS. Environmental panel. Monitoring, awareness and participation in air quality and noise levels

LÍQUENS is an innovative project developed by AIGUASOL, which was the winner of the “Call for Solutions” competition at the 2015 edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona

NANOSEN-AQM – Development and field validations of low cost-low energy consumption nanosensor system for real time air quality monitoring

NanoSen-AQM faces the challenge of monitoring ambient air pollution and informing the public of air quality in real time in a sustainable manner. The objective of the project is to develop an electronic system based on low cost and low consumption sensors, validating the system in different locations of Spain and Portugal.
