THE VISION FRAMEWORK
In a sector like energy, which is seeing increasingly more distributed generation and strong dependencies among a diffuse array of customers, such as building or transportation, it is crucial to have a comprehensive view capable of covering the entire spectrum, ordering priorities, highlighting scenarios and developing action plans. Only in this way is it possible to set consistent medium-term goals and determine targeted actions that will support the future.
WHAT WE OFFER
We think that energy policy should be set based on knowledge and guidelines that, stemming from policies decided by the competent authorities, can reliably demonstrate financial and/or energy efficiency.
Looking from a panoramic perspective and operating from a multidisciplinary vision, we perform in-depth analyses of specific solutions (penetration of technology) at the neighborhood, city or state level. We offer clear key performance indicators (KPIs) that encapsulate complex issues in a simple, operational manner, enabling assessment of the current state and monitoring in the future. We take all key aspects into account: market and opportunity costs, social aspects such as energy poverty and overall objectives such as degrees of energy self-sufficiency or limits on greenhouse gas emissions.
We design improvement strategies based on ambitious but achievable goals, operating with targeted subsidies, adapted regulations or actions with a demonstrable impact, allowing for or fostering agreement on a change in paradigm.
We support the parties involved in the process of achieving goals set realistically, providing the information and tools needed at each stage of the process.
HOW WE DO IT
Based on the progress made in the internationally award-winning Barcelona Energy Plan (PMEB, 2000), we have developed methodologies to encompass a broader spectrum of scenarios with proven reliability at a lower cost of implementation.
From mathematical modeling of benchmark scenarios via dynamic simulation, satellite technology and big data adjustments to phased generation of future scenarios, we assess consumption, emissions and energy costs to scale. Our analyses include centralized and distributed production, consumption based on current uses of technology and potential consumption stemming from the latest developments as well as other relevant aspects, such as the social impact of policies, energy poverty, the rebound effect or legal and regulatory aspects of scaled implementation.
Through analyses of optimum cost, life cycle and self-sufficiency guidelines, we determine case-specific key indicators that are comparable to other benchmarks and not only tell the current story but also allowed detailed tracking of whatever guidelines are ultimately established. Through monitoring platforms, whether programmed ad hoc or modified third-party solutions, we can monitor and track the KPIs, progress against the planned objectives and policy penetration.
