During the month of April, different workshops were held to co-create the Join Energy app, which aims to offer users control over the operation and benefits of being part of an energy community or shared self-consumption.

The project, an initiative of Aiguasol, an energy consultancy with more than twenty years of experience in the sector and a pioneer in the creation of energy communities, is financed by the BruixIT grants for digital entrepreneurship and technological innovation in cooperatives, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya through the Next Generation European funds.

The application aims to be as useful as possible for end users who are members of energy communities, for this reason, different communities in the Catalan territory have been involved to participate in the creation and definition of the main indicators of the tool, more specifically, it has had the collaboration of the energy community of Lloriana (Torelló, Vic), the Bordeta (Barcelona) as well as several communities in the region of Osona.

During these workshops, several approaches and economic, energy and sustainability indicators were presented so that users could evaluate and agree on functionalities to be improved, included or discarded. The mobile app includes information on energy generated and consumed, money saved, investment amortization and C02 emissions saved at individual user level vs. community level. It also includes a documentation section related to the energy community, monitoring reports and consumption and production history. In addition, to encourage interactivity, the app offers tips on energy consumption and use to users so that they can optimize their participation in the energy community to the maximum.

Once Join Energy is fully operational towards the end of this summer, informative workshops are planned for the beginning of September, which will be open to energy communities interested in learning how to use the application and how to get the most out of being part of their collective energy generation project.
