The goal of the project was to conduct technical studies geared at integrating varied renewable energy technologies in the urban development of a part of the Barcelona waterfront near the mouth of the Besòs River, known as the Forum area. Several detail studies were carried out as part of the project in order to formulate a coherent energy master plan.
AIGUASOL’s contribution revolved around energy efficiency and an analysis of the cost of a newly developed heating and cooling network, with particular attention paid to the inclusion of various waste and renewable energy sources.
Subsequent implementation of the Forum Energy Master Plan resulted in what is now known as the Districlima district heating and cooling system, which serves the Forum area and the 22@ technology district
