The new Spanish Technical Building Code (CTE 2007) was developed as part of the transposition of the first version of the European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD 2002). Prior to its public presentation, several teams tested the new methodologies and tools on real projects.
Commissioned by public promoters EMVS (Madrid) and EMGIASA (Alcorcón) and in coordination with IDAE (CTE 2007 promoter), AIGUASOL tested new methodologies and tools in the CTE 2007, analyzing eight new residential developments with a dual purpose. First, it sought to establish a best practice guide to ensure maximum regulatory classification for these and future developments. Second, based on its use of the methodologies and informal tools, it gave feedback to the competent authorities (IDAE) on how well suited they are to use and how robust and reliable their results are.
