“Santander, Hábitat Futuro” is a city model designed specifically for the Cantabrian city based on an in-depth analysis of its conditions, needs and opportunities and the citizen listening and participation process initiated in 2020. 

The objective of the project is the transformation of the city through regenerative urbanism. It is an open model in which, based on innovation and citizen participation, the adaptation of the territory and its ecological, economic and social conditions is prepared for the different scenarios to come.  

Regenerative urbanism implies a transformation of the ecological, economic and social models on which cities have developed, defining systems that do not consume available resources, but generate new ones that ensure compatibility between economic and social prosperity and nature.

Aiguasol has contributed to support the development of the strategic plan of the project through our expertise in energy efficiency.  With Habitat Futuro, Santander will become a circular, resilient, vertebrate, prosperous, vital and inclusive city in 2055. 

We hope that this initiative will serve as a reference to inspire and shape the cities of tomorrow.
