We are proud to announce that the work developed in terms of electrification in the Sabana Real community (Dominican Republic) is now fully operational, allowing its residents to enjoy 100% renewable electricity generation.
The rural electrification initiative, with an investment of 35 million RD$, includes the implementation of a solar photovoltaic microgrid of 55.2 kWp and 245.7 kWh of storage through lithium batteries as well as an electrical distribution network for the community. Aiguasol collaborated in the study of the technical and economic feasibility of this project.
Thanks to the solar plant installed, more than 225 people will have access to a basic commodity such as electricity, including more than 80 families, 11 businesses, two churches, the community school, “La Bella” cooperative, the military site and the park ranger hut.
This action is part of the project “Promotion of a low-emission energy industry for the implementation of the Climate Goals of the Dominican Republic”, and represents a comprehensive solution to the lack of electricity in the area, contributing to the improvement of the life quality of its inhabitants.
We would like to thank RENAC and GIZ for trusting our experience from the very beginning; the energy transition is a common and shared challenge for everyone.
This project is promoted by the International Cooperation of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development of the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Energy, the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications, the European Union Cooperation in the Dominican Republic, and the Energy Transition Project “GIZ”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D79TcfAl2L4&t=59s
