The work of the Regional Government of Gipuzkoa’s (DFG) Department of the Environment includes managing the energy rehabilitation of its bank of housing and providing advice and services to the more than 80 municipalities in the province.

As part of a project to define, analyze and prepare proposals for improvement of several of the DFG’s representative buildings, we developed models, designs and test proposals for the energy optimization of the DFG’s headquarters, the Palacio building.

Over the scope of this project, we monitored different areas over a representative interval of time, designed and calibrated a mathematical model of the building and simulated multiple improvement proposals, including a cost-benefit analysis looking at both individual measures and future scenarios. Some of these measures are now in the process of being gradually implemented.
